Glasshouse II
The contest entry is the second artwork of a series consisting of altogether three pictures. The picture is an entirely independent work, meaning the artist is all model, photographer and editor at the same time. The "head" in the glass jar is the artist's face herself, of course liquified and edited to give it a doll-like impression. The technique used is a mixture consisting of photomanipulation and digital painting. The most prominent object in this work is obviously the glass jar, which was also designed by the artist herself. The psd files used for this work are now available to download here (, so other digital artists can also benefit from them for their manipulations. Background of the work: The doll in the glass jar is sad, crying, the tears running down her eyes were painted in Photoshop. Nature is finding its way through the prison (jar) where the doll is captured in and breaking through it leaving cracks in the glass. Life is going on outside (butterfly, flowers), however, the doll cannot take part in it. The doll gets a piece of taste of the life outside from the brambles coming in and leaving a hole for air to come in. It was paid much attention to the details: a piece of broken glass, for example, that has fallen into the jar carries a drop of blood from the doll. About the artist: AngieG. is a completely self-taught artist who immersed herself into photography and digital art approximately two years ago. Since then her style varies between photography, photomanipulation and digital painting from conceptional, dark, fantasy and emotional. Recently, AngieG. enjoys creating surreal mixed media art as a means of better self-expression. More of her works can be found on Facebook or at
