EOS Mars Program: Tilapia Fish Farm
An overview of a fish-farming unit, seen from a video camera over the main airlock entrance. Due to the compact nature of the facility, the lens is set at extreme wide angle, which distorts relative proportion somewhat. An interesting problem in virtual engineering, as structures would weigh only one-third of what they would on Earth. This allows much lighter construction of some components, and hydrostatic pressure would also be less, so these tanks can be large for their mass of water. However, falls from height would still be damaging, even though relatively slower, so gantry railings are robust to avoid destabilising torsion under pressure when handled.
