day and night
The painting “Day and Night” composes of 2 parts: ”Day” and “Night”. Each part can be independent and integrated. Ruby, which represents favorableness, life, energy and emotion, is the inspiration of “Day”. The author created a figure of a young soldier. You can feel pep and gumption emanating from him though he looks reserved. This stands for the sensibility of human nature. Behind the soldier, there is a Kylin, a creature in Chinese Mythologies. It’s aggressive and exploding blazing passion, which is indispensable in one’s life. The inspiration of “Night” came from Sapphire and Opal, the symbols of faithfulness, hope and philanthropy. The image of the Goddess comes from the legend of Libra. She has truthfulness, justice and beauty, and stands for nous of human nature. The architecture behind her is the materialization of Utopia, the symbol of law and priciseness. The dual characters of things are known as Yingyang in Chinese philosophy. It is regarded as main principle and order of everything in ancient China. "Day" combines with " Night ". Rigid and flexible, active and quiescent, sensibility and nous, aggressive and restraining, they influence each other, combine and separate. Giving new significance for the artwork.
