The Crimson Lotus is in Bloom This is my personal character Ren Akita when she was eighteen years old. Ren keeps her true gender a secret and has been leading the Akita clan as a man. Missing for twenty-two years, much of Ren's past is shrouded with mystery. To the modern world she is known for being calculative, vicious and ruthless and one can't help but wonder how Ren had grown to become the person she is today. As she would never tell you herself perhaps this painting will give clues to her dark history. The Crimson Lotus in the title refers to Ren, as Ren means 'lotus' in Japanese. And like the actual lotuses she carries so carefully, Ren is pictured here awakened and in full bloom. A sign that there are violent changes to come.
